In Their Own Words
My goals for my future are to finish school and graduate high school successfully. Right now, school can be really hard for me because I do not always feel comfortable or confident being around other people. One of my biggest goals is to attend school regularly without feeling worried about being judged. I also want ot go to college one day, even though I am not sure yet what I want to study. I believe that once I feel better about myself and more confident, I will be able to focus on my education and figure out what path is right for me.
Another important goal of mine is to be able to provide for my family and give back to others who need support. Getting braces would dramatically change my life. I am very self-conscious about my smile, and it affects how I feel about myself every day. Because of this, I often avoid school and social situations because I feel embarrassed and uncomfortable.
If I received braces, I believe I would feel more confident and less afraid to be around others. I would be able to smile without worrying and focus more on learning instead of how I look. Braces would help me feel better about myself and would make it easier for me to attend school, participate in class, and build better relationships with other people.
If I am blessed with braces, I want to pay it forward in the future. I know what it feels like to want to improve your appearance but not have the resources to do so. I would like to mentor other kids who struggle with confidence and help them believe in themselves. I also want to give back to my community by helping provide things like clothes, shoes, and other items that people sometimes think are not important but make a big difference in how a kid feels about themselves.
Receiving braces would mean more than just fixing my teeth. It would help me feel seen, accepted, and confident enough to show up in the world without fear.
